All things bright and beautiful.
Robert Cargill, on the one hand you condemn Raphael Golb, on the other you correspond with the master of aliases 'Rod of Alexandria'.

rod,
good post. thanx for the summary. quick question: did jodi really reveal to the class that she was the peer-reviewer on a number of my article submissions and that she rejected each of them?
thanx. -bc

thank you, rod. again, good summary. it’s essentially what she said at my book review session. you’re welcome to chat me offline if you want to discuss further. btw – i’ve added you to my blogroll.
thx again – bc
It's interesting that Jodi Magness rejected all your submissions that she peer-reviewed.

Not even 'Rod of Alexandria'?

Patience, forgiveness, empathy, care for the person! Robert Cargill, does this apply to Raphael Golb?
The Scrolls found in Judea are from Jerusalem. They were written by priests who were exiled from the temple by Mattathias and Judas (prophets). They describe the enmity between priests and prophets. The Scrolls were captured by Judas and kept in the archives of successive Jewish kings. The archives were later ransacked (64CE) by the priests who executed king Agrippa (a prophet and friend of Nero). The priests captured Qumran, Machaerus, and Masada. Nero re-took the fortresses in 66CE.

Hello, nice post thanks for sharing?. I just joined and I am going to catch up by reading for a while. I hope I can join in soon.
ReplyDelete"Let he who is free from sin cast the first stone."
ReplyDeleteHow interesting to learn that such a good disciple of Jesus is teaching William Schniedewind's course on "Jerusalem, the Holy City" at UCLA.
It is also interesting to know that he has teamed-up with a number of individuals to produce a film made by CTVC Ltd, London, called 'Writing the Dead Sea Scrolls', commissioned by the National Geographic channel in the US. This does not yet have a broadcast date.
ReplyDeleteWhile on holiday this week, I read Golb's book Who Wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls (up to and including Chapter 7). It has been quite an eye-opening experience. I am left wondering what such a team, that includes Lawrence Schiffman, Stephen Pfann, and Jodi Magness could add that is very useful. They will no doubt, along with Cargill, finish-up muddying the waters even more than they have done already.
